Questions
What is the UV index?
The UV index measures how strong the sun's ultraviolet radiation is where you are. It goes from 0 to 11+: the higher it is, the faster it can damage your skin and eyes.

When do I need sun protection?
From UV 3 you need sun protection. From UV 8, extra protection: avoid the midday sun and seek shade.

How often should I reapply sunscreen?
Use a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Apply it 15 minutes before going outside and reapply every 2 hours, or after swimming or sweating.
Can the UV be high on a cloudy day?
Yes. You can't see or feel UV: it isn't the same as heat. UV can be high on cool or cloudy days, so go by the index, not the temperature.
Is Lumisol free?
Yes. The UV index, today's curve, tomorrow's forecast, the UV widget (small, medium and round on the Lock Screen) and the morning heads-up are free. Lumisol Pro adds more widgets, the Reapply timer and themes.
What does Lumisol do with my location?
Lumisol has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no servers of its own. Your location is rounded to about 1 km and sent to Apple only to get weather and UV data. If you prefer, choose a city instead.
Where does the weather data come from?
From Apple Weather. UV, humidity and the forecast come from Apple Weather; golden hour is calculated on your iPhone.
